Global Uranium Shortages are Driving Price Increases
Smartstox.com Spotlights International Montoro
Resources
International Montoro Resources Inc. (IMT-TSX.V) holds exploration
properties across the country that are prospective for a variety
of metals, including gold properties in the Red Lake gold camp,
but it’s their Uranium exploration portfolio
that they’ve been building up recently. With ground in the
Athabaska Basin- Saskatchewan, Central Mineral
Belt- Labrador and BC, they’ve positioned themselves in the
most active camps in the country. Montoro has recruited a highly
qualified team of consultants to manage the exploration and development
planned for the fall/winter 2006 programs.
Global Uranium Shortages are Driving Price Increases:
--Global demand for uranium is 180 million pounds per year, while
current supply is only 108 million pounds per year.
--60 new reactors are expected to be built worldwide in coming years,
each consuming 500,000 pounds of uranium per year, translating to
increased annual demand of 30 million pounds of uranium.
--Uranium price per pound has gone from $14 in 2003, to $37 in 2005,
to +$50 in 2006. A recent report by CIBC World Markets expects prices
to reach $70 per pound by the end of 2007, and noted that demand
threatens to consume current global supply.
